The top rodeo event in Houston, Texas, is the annual Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, the world’s largest of its kind, featuring professional rodeo competitions, concerts, a carnival, and livestock auctions. It includes one of the richest regular-season professional rodeo events. The event is held at NRG Stadium in Houston.
This event lasts 20 days and begins with the Downtown Rodeo Roundup near Houston City Hall, the Downtown Rodeo parade, and the ConocoPhillips Rodeo Run—a 10K and 5K walk and run—as well as the World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest. The show features championship rodeo action, livestock competitions, concerts, a carnival, pig racing, barbecue, and the Rodeo Uncorked! International Wine Competition, along with shopping, sales, and livestock auctions. Traditional trail rides starting in different parts of Texas and ending in Houston precede the rodeo events. The City of Houston celebrates Go Texan Day, when residents are encouraged to wear western attire on the Friday before the rodeo begins.
Other significant events include the Rodeo Uncorked! Wine Competition and the Super Series Championship, which are part of the larger celebration.
